Healthy Children for a Healthy Future
Youth Educate Health For Kids
Youth Educate Health For Kids is a community project aimed at teaching children about how their bodies function and how to best keep themselves healty. As obesity numbers rise daily and health care costs incline, there is a strong need for teaching children about how to best take care of their own bodies. The community project is fitted around enhancing the knowledge of the youth of tomorrow as they can pass on valuable skills for generations to come. The best way to effect change is to start with youth.
Youth, high school students, volunteer to teach middle school and elementary school students the basics of human anatomy through various means of education including presentations, discussions, and anatomy handouts. Anatomy that students learn include: brain, circulatory system, digestive track muscular system, nervous system, and bones. Students learn about the most recent facts regarding the most common diseases including heart disease, cancer, obesity, etc. and how to avoid them by nourishing their bodies and practicing healthy habits. Students are encouraged to exercise and eat healthy and are provided the information for doing so.
This community effort benefits the youth as they are not only gaining valuable leadership and life skills but teaching information they themselves need to know to train their minds to live healthy lives- the best way to learn a concept is by teaching it. The effort benefits children as they are provided with a non-profit means of getting necessary education they need to avoid future medical illnesses that could easily be prevented through knowledge.
"Education is an ornament in prosperity and a refuge in adversity."
